A new under the sea painting - Tropical Fish

Here's another painting that I started without any idea of which direction it would take me.
After painting the background and then turning it upside down I could see a possible picture emerging.
I've never painted an underwater picture before but the shapes and colours just seemed to call for this scene. The light breaking through from underneath seems to add an air of mystery to the painting.
I'm pleased how it turned out.

Fairy Magic - a new small painting by Tony Lilley

Here's a small painting I finished yesterday. Acrylic on 300gsm watercolour paper. Size 8 X 10 inches. This painting started life as an experiment which gradually turn into what you see now.
I was trying to create more of an abstract with only a small amount of detail.
It wasn't going to be a fairy with magic wand to begin with but as it progressed I could see more of that in it.

It's painted with Winsor and Newton acrylics and Liquitex acrylic inks on 3oogsm cold pressed watercolour paper.

My new small painting called 'Spring Flowers'

I made this painting on the spur of the moment.
No drawing or any idea of how it would turn out.
I used a 2 inch wide brush to start with and then later used bits of cardboard and an old credit card edges to make marks in the wet paint of thin plant stems.
I like the way it developed almost by it's self and I'm quite pleased with it.
Painted using Winsor & Newton professional acrylics on 300gsm Cold Pressed watercolour paper.
12 X 8 inches.
